Mastering the concerto – Masterclasses for soloists
The Institute invites highly accomplished violinists and pianists at least 16 years of age who are preparing for careers as soloists to apply. The course has openings for up to 5 pianists and 5 violinists. Experience performing with a symphony orchestra is not required, but applicants are expected to have two concertos from the list of concertos below—one Classical and one Romantic—fully prepared when they apply. The soloist curriculum includes six instructional sessions at least 15 minutes in length with orchestra, six 10-minute sessions with string sextet plus a general rehearsal and concert performance of at least one movement from your two concertos. The curriculum also includes 180 minutes of one-on-one with master teachers Emilio Percan (violin) or Mattia Ometto (piano), two group masterclasses with your master teacher and a combined masterclass for conductors and soloists.
